Master Sgt. Bryan Davis, of Perry, Fla., is addressed by Brig. Gen. Gary Volesky, 1st Cavalry Division deputy commanding general, after being awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart Nov. 5. Davis, who is with Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment, suffered a concussion when an improvised explosive device detonated 10 meters from his position April 22. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his distinguished service as the non-commissioned officer in charge of the base defense operations center.
