Soldiers with Detachment 1, F Company, 1-171 General Support Aviation Battalion, conduct training to bridge the capabilities of their CMWS defense equipment and a simulated ground attack trainer. The common missile warning system discharges decoy flares after detecting incoming enemy fire as an automated response in order to protect the crew of the aircraft. This training exercise is the first successful integration of the two systems, which will serve as the foundation for future aviation missions to further enhance defense measures on military aircraft.
