Army Capt. Jeremy D. Eubanks, commander of Detachment 1, F Company, 1-171 General Support Aviation Battalion, conducts the mission briefing in preparation for the unit's common missile warning system training and man portable air defense simulations held at Yankee Range in McMullen County, Texas, Nov. 1, 2011. The CMWS discharges decoy flares after detecting incoming enemy fire as an automated response in order to protect the crew of the aircraft. This training exercise is the first integration of the two systems, which will serve as the foundation for future aviation missions to further enhance defensive measures on military aircraft.
