While Capt. Malcolm Wilson, commander, Company B, 1st Battalion, Fort Hood WTB, helps his daughter, Emma, take a crack at billiards, her brother, Jack, and sister, Ellie, watch. WTB Family Readiness Group coordinators plan quarterly events for soldiers and their families in various ways, such as chili cook-offs, picnics and off-post events such as Family Pool Day. According to Wilson, the events not only promote bonding and family socialization, but also build morale because it gets soldiers off the installation.
