Sgt. Jerome Garcia, the casket escort for Sgt. Millard Odom’s funeral, stands outside the doors to the funeral ceremony at the El Camino Memorial Cemetery in San Diego, Nov. 19. Odom was killed in action Nov. 20, 1943, at the Battle of Tarawa during World War II as well as more than 1,000 other Marines.
