Two CH-46E Sea Knight helicopters with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 262, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, prepare to take off the flight deck of the USS Tortuga Nov. 22 to conduct flight operations. The aircraft aboard the Tortuga are enroute to the Kingdom of Thailand to support flood relief operations in coordination with the Royal Government of Thailand. Directed by the U.S. Pacific Command, III MEF deployed Marines and sailors to conduct flood relief assessments and operations. The III MEF Flood Relief Command Element is responsible for providing the command and control of U.S. forces working with and assisting the Royal Government of Thailand.
