A CH-46E Sea Knight helicopter with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 262, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, lands on the flight deck of the USS Tortuga Nov. 22 after conducting flight operations. The aircraft is one of two aboard the Tortuga enroute to Thailand to support flood relief efforts at the request of the Government of Thailand. Directed by the U.S. Pacific Command, III MEF deployed Marines and sailors to conduct flood relief assessment and to execute specific tasks associated with disaster mitigation. The III MEF Flood Relief Command Element is responsible for providing the command and control of U.S. forces working with and assisting the Royal Government of Thailand.
