A recruit with Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, scale an obstacle during a confidence course event at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Dec. 4. During the course recruits must strive to overcome each obstacle to overcome fear and increase confidence among themselves. Annually, more than 17,000 males recruited from the Western Recruiting Region are trained at MCRD San Diego. Alpha Company is scheduled to graduate Feb 1.
