Lance Cpl. Koury M. Lachance conducts routine maintenance on a landing helicopter deck on Ie Shima Dec. 5. Monthly routine maintenance of the LHD is performed to ensure the deck is in good condition for training. The LHD is the only one in the Pacific area of operations is used for Harrier pilots to practice take-offs and landings. Lachance is an expeditionary airfield technician with Marine Wing Support Squadron 172.
