Naoki Kondo, an administrator for the Sendai International Airport shows Lt. Gen. Kenneth J. Glueck Jr. areas of the airport that have been restored since the Great East Japan earthquake and tsunami March 11, 2011. Glueck and other senior members visited Sendai and Oshima Island to review community recovery progress since the disaster and to meet with local leaders to discuss the roles of the community, volunteer organizations and the U.S. military during a natural disaster. Glueck is the commanding general of III Marine Expeditionary Force.
