Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus addresses a crowd gathered here to watch him present the Navy Cross to the family of Lance Cpl. Donald J. Hogan, Jan. 17. Hogan, an infantryman with 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment and a native of San Clemente, sacrificed his life to save his fellow Marines in Helmand province, Afghanistan, Aug. 26, 2009. His father Jim, mother Carla and sister Adrianna attended the ceremony on his behalf.
