Jim Hogan displays his son's Navy Cross here, Jan. 17, after receiving the award from Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus. Lance Cpl. Donald J. Hogan earned the award by sacrificing his life to save fellow Marines in Helmand province, Afghanistan, Aug. 26, 2009. The San Clemente native was assigned to 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment.
