ARABIAN GULF (Feb. 28, 2019) U.S. Marines with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit change the water pump in a Humvee during maintenance in the well deck of the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD-3). The Marines, with Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 264, routinely perform maintenance on aircrafts aboard the Kearsarge to ensure that they will remain functional throughout their time at sea. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
