Pvt. Cory Merkley, 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, role plays as a local national Jan. 17, during a Warrior Leader Course situational exercise at Fort Carson, Colo. Merkley was helping two squads of students demonstrate their ability to treat combat injuries and call for medevac support. The multicomponent course offered at Fort Carson is organized by the 168th Regiment, Regional Training Institute. Soldiers who are ready for non-commissioned officer promotions must attend WLC, which is open to all occupational specialties.
