STARBASE Los Alamitos rocketry team member Franklin Nguyen, 13, an eighth grader from Garden Grove, connects a rocket for launch, March 13, 2019, at Joint Forces Training Base, Los Alamitos, California. The rocketry team is competing in the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) competition with hopes of making it to the National Fly Offs in May. STARBASE Los Alamitos, which is located on the base, is one of two DoD STARBASE campuses facilitated by the California Military Department's Youth and Community Programs Task Force.
