A contractor with U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) secures a cable conduit to the ceiling of an M1087 Expandable Van Shelter March 14, 2019, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. These expando vans are being integrating into units such as the 1-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team to assess different configurations units construct for their operational needs. The van’s overall design decreases setup and teardown time while increasing mobility of command posts so units can rapidly react to near-peer enemy threats. This is part of the Army’s modernization strategy to make Soldiers and units more lethal to win the nation’s wars. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt Samuel Northrup)
