Mr. Steve Barlow, Typhoon Duty Officer, presents on the strengths and weaknesses of the multi-model consensus used at the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC). Model performance is re-evaluated every year and the best-performing models are selected to make up the multi-model consensus at JTWC, which consistently issues more accurate forecasts than most individual models. JTWC hosted the Tropical Cyclone Conference to bring together scientists, academics, and operational forecasters from around the world to share the latest research and operational advances in the tropical cyclone world.
