190425-M-YD783-1017 ZARQA, Jordan (April 25, 2019) U.S. Marine Cpl. Erin Thomas, a law enforcement Marine with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit’s (MEU) female engagement team, executes a counter to the rear choke technique on a Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) Arab Army soldier as a part of Marine Corps Martial Arts Program training. Marines and JAF soldiers exchanged combat tactics, techniques, and procedures as a part of the training. Marines and Sailors with the 22nd MEU and Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group are deployed to the 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
