Students from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs visited the Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, La. to see how the Army is using a Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE) to prepare brigade combat teams to fight against a near peer adversary in a future conflict. The students are in the prone as they prepare to rush through a breech after an obstacle is blown with explosive charges.
Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment assaulted enemy positions in a mock village. The Soldiers simultaneously laid down support by fire machine gun positions, sniper positions, mortar firing points, and employed AH-64 attack helicopters to suppress the enemy and they maneuvered to their assault position. The students followed the Soldiers through the breach lane and into the village.
