Cpl. Ashley M. Pawlowski, senior combatives instructor assigned to Company B, 1st Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, points to two combatives instructors, who demonstrated the correct way to apply a rear choke hold Feb. 27, to a group of 18 soldiers assigned to 1st STB, 1st BCT, 4th Inf. Div., who tackled a week long course Feb. 27 – March 2, in order to become level one certified in the U.S. Army’s combatives program. Pawlowski, a 23-year-old native of Greensboro, N.C., is a level three, senior combatives instructor in the four-level Army combatives program, which progresses soldiers from familiarization with basic self-defense maneuvers at level one, to full-contact hand-to-hand combat bouts at level four.
