A line of M1A2 System Enhancement Package Abrams Tanks assigned to 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, roll out of the Mountain Post wash rack, March 1, after being washed. The unit conducted a live-fire exercise Feb. 28–29, to test the capabilities of their new M1A2 SEP Abrams Tanks, and work out any kinks before participating in the brigade’s field training exercise. “The new M1A2 SEP tank differs from previous models as it includes thermal imaging and a set of electronic controls that work the gun on top of the tank,” said Staff Sgt. John M. Kraft, tank commander and native of Dunedin, Fla., assigned to Company D, 1-66thAR. “All that extra equipment basically equates to a safer way to have more eyes downrange and more specific sectors of fire; now the crew can see more land and share what they are seeing with each other.”
