190606-N-XK398-1126 PATTAYA, Thailand (June 6, 2019) Navy Diver 2nd Class Hersson Franco, assigned to Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 1, climbs aboard a small Landing Craft Utility after conducting a joint diving exercise off the coast of Pattaya, Thailand, conducted with divers from the Royal Thai Navy during Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training during Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Thailand 2019. This year marks the 25th iteration of CARAT, a multinational exercise series designed to enhance U.S. and partner navies’ abilities to operate together in response to traditional and non-traditional maritime security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
