190606-N-XK398-1161 PATTAYA, Thailand (June 6, 2019) Navy Diver 1st Class Eric Ruckert, assigned to Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 1, assists Royal Thai Navy (RTN) Petty Officer 1st Class Saranyu Suwan, assigned to RTN Navy Diver and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Center, in carrying dive equipment aboard the Military Sealift Command Safeguard-class salvage ship USNS Salvor (T-ARS 52) after conducting a joint diving exercise off the coast of Pattaya, Thailand, during Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Thailand 2019. This year marks the 25th iteration of CARAT, a multinational exercise series designed to enhance U.S. and partner navies’ abilities to operate together in response to traditional and non-traditional maritime security challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
