Spc. Jin Crow, 976th Transportation Detachment, performs a function check on an M249 Squad Automatic Weapon during an Army Warrior Task at the 316th Expeditionary Sustainment Command 2012 Best Warrior competition held from March 29-April 1, at Fort Dix, N.J. Crow, a recent graduate from the Warrior Leader Course, anticipated both the high quality training and the opportunity to represent all the soldiers in his unit. “I think this competition is good … you promote unit cohesion and there is a representative for your unit,” he said. “I think if your soldier wins, that unit should be really proud of that soldier. Plus [the competition proves] that we’re always ready to fight, always ready to go and we’re good at what we do.” This year, the “Soldier of the Year” victory went to Spc. Christopher P. Fitt, 439th Quartermaster Company. Staff Sgt. John W. Schillereff, 38th Regional Support Group, won “Best Warrior” title for the non-commissioned officers. The two winners advance to the 377th Theater Sustainment Command’s Best Warrior competition.
