SAN DIEGO (July 16, 2019) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 3rd Class Andrew Rodriguez and Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) Airman Tainesha Hines, assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), receive instruction before conducting a crash and salvage drill. Crash and salvage drills teach Sailors how to recover and secure an aircraft in the event of an actual casualty.
