SAN DIEGO (July 16, 2019) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) Airman Christopher Paparigopoulos, assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), guides a forklift operator during a crash and salvage drill. Crash and salvage drills teach Sailors how to recover and secure an aircraft in the event of an actual casualty.
