A U.S. Marine with Charlie Company, 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, reads a pamphlet during a memorial service here, April 16, 2012, in honor of Lance Cpl. Ramon T. Kaipat, an infantryman who served with Charlie Co. and 22-year-old native of Tacoma, Wash. Kaipat was killed in action during a dismounted patrol in support of combat operations in Helmand province’s Khan Neshin district. Kaipat’s brothers-in-arms remember him as a caring and humble warrior, who placed the welfare of his fellow Marines before his own.
