    Exercise Balikatan

(Right) U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Angel Aponte, 196th Infantry Brigade Support Battalion, observes as Armed Forces of the Philippines soldiers make their way through a live-fire training course during Balikatan 2012, April 21, at Fort Magsaysay, Philippines. Both forces took turns through the live-fire course, and shared tactics and techniques throughout the training day. Balikatan is an annual Republic of the Philippines-U.S. military exercise focusing on field training, humanitarian assistance and a command post exercise. Additionally, it increases our armed forces' ability to respond quickly and work together efficiently to provide relief and assistance in the event of natural disasters and other crises.
