Sailors from the Navy Expeditionary Medical Unit, care for a casualty during a mass casualty exercise at Erbil Air Base, Iraq, August 1, 2019. The mass casualty exercise is a medical exercise stressing the partnership between field medics and coalition surgical teams. The exercise highlighted their ability to respond quickly to a mass casualty scenario, while simultaneously testing the units’ capacity to quickly treat and track patients throughout the continuum of care. Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve is in Iraq at the invitation of the Government of Iraq to train and advise in support of enduring mission to defeat Daesh.
