Martir, Armed Forces of the Philippines exercise director, roll up the Exercise Balikatan flag to mark the end of the exercise at the closing ceremony of Exercise Balikatan 2012, April 27, at Camp Aguinaldo, Philippines. Exercise Balikatan is an annual training event aimed at improving combined planning, combat readiness, humanitarian assistance and interoperability between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and U.S. The word "balikatan" in Filipino means "shoulder-to-shoulder."
