Ichiro Umehara, the Camp Courtney community relations specialist, translates a speech given by U.S. Marine Col. Matthew Nation, the commanding officer of Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, during a safe driving awareness event in Uruma City, Okinawa, Japan, Sept. 27, 2019. Reducing driving under the influence is a priority for 3rd Marine Division. In order to combat drinking and driving III Marine Expeditionary Force and Marine Corps Installation Pacific have instituted a variety of preventative programs including the “Not One Drop" campaign, outbound gate sobriety checks, and “Liberty Buddy” requirements for Marines.
