Sailors celebrated the U.S. Navy’s 244th birthday at the mess hall at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, Oct. 10, 2019. Naval tradition dictates that the oldest and youngest sailor present cut the cake. Starting as a small fleet of privateers and growing to the largest maritime force in the world, the U.S. Navy has time and time again proven themselves to be one of the fiercest naval forces in the world.
