Retired Navy Capt. Bill Dodge, who served as Army Spc. Evan Mettie’s guardian ad litem, addresses those gathered to witness the renaming of the Selah Airstrip to the Mettie Airstrip at the Yakima Training Center, Washington, Tuesday. Mettie received the Purple Heart after a roadside improvised explosive device left him paralyzed with a severe traumatic brain injury during his second deployment to Iraq in 2006. Dodge represented Mettie immediately following his injury, working with Mettie’s parents to secure the care and treatment he needed. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. John Weaver)
