Col. Tim McAteer, right, commander of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, and Command Sgt. Maj. Tim Guden, senior non-commissioned officer, stand guard on the last shift of a silent candle light vigil service, May 23, at the 82nd Airborne Division Museum. The service was held, May 22, and had a silent guard throughout the night to honor the 50 fallen paratroopers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the War on Terrorism. The ceremony was held at the 82nd Airborne Division Global War on Terrorism Memorial located at the 82nd Airborne Division Museum. There was a wreath on display as well as a candle to represent all of the fallen paratroopers. Officers and senior non-commissioned officers from the Brigade guarded the candle throughout the night in complete silence. This observance is a one of the ways that the 2BCT remembers and honors its fellow paratroopers. They may be gone but never forgotten.
