SAN DIEGO (Nov. 14, 2019) Lt. Cmdr. Keith Freeman, Naval Medical Center San
Diego's (NMCSD) sterile processing department (SPD) divisional officer tours
Capt. Bradford Smith, NMCSD's commanding officer, around the new sterile
processing department (SPD) after a ribbon-cutting ceremony Nov. 14. SPD's
new facility houses and utilizes ultramodern sterilization machines to
ensure NMCSD's surgical equipment functions in its highest capacity under
the most stringent cleanliness guidelines. NMCSD's mission is to prepare
service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high
quality healthcare services, and shape the future of military medicine
through education, training and research. NMCSD employs more than 6,000
active duty military personnel, civilians and contractors in Southern
California to provide patients with world-class care anytime, anywhere.(U.S.
