191122-N-QR336-1008 NARRA, Palawan (Nov. 22, 2019) Command Master Chief Frederick Martinez, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5, teaches U.S. Navy Seabees deployed with Detail Palawan tips to screeding concrete. Screeding concrete is part of the final steps in laying concrete and is performed by smoothing out the top and getting rid of excess wet concrete. NMCB-5 is deployed across the Indo-Pacific region conducting high-quality construction to support U.S. and partner nations to strengthen partnerships, deter aggression, and enable expeditionary logistics and naval power projection.
