Kahu Kalehua, a traditional Hawaiian priest and island caretaker, performs a blessing ceremony Dec. 17, at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. The event was held to recognize a microgrid project, designed to promote sustainable and reliable energy sources to the Hawaii Air National Guard’s 154th Wing. Representatives of the Pacific Energy Assurance Renewables Laboratory gathered to take part in the blessing and reinforce their intentions to take care of the ‘Aina’ (land in Hawaiian language) as construction for the power distribution center begins.
