U.S. Navy Lt. Kirk D. Mundal, from Fargo, N.D., receives an explanation of Arabic cooking at the Four Season's Hotel in Doha, Qatar, on Sept. 28. Mundal and several other American troops were participating in a rest and recuperation pass program during Ramadan, Islam's holiest month. Qatar evenings are rejoiced with "Suhur" festivities, an Arabic word referring to a late evening feast during the holy month. "I have never participated in an Arabic celebration before," said Mundal. "It's great being able to see the good things – the beautiful side of the Islamic people."
