Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad F. Wolf discusses progress on the border barrier construction with Yuma Sector Chief Patrol Agent Anthony J. Porvaznik, as the official party arrives in Yuma, Arizona at an event commemorating the completion of 100 miles of border barrier system along the southwest border on January 10, 2020. The Yuma 1 project spans approximately 5 miles, replacing dilapidated and outdated designs with a steel bollard barrier system. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, South Pacific Border District is providing contracting services, including design and construction oversight, of Department of Defense-funded Southwest border barrier projects in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas at the direction of the Administration and at the request of Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection.
