New Iraqi security volunteers from the eastern Baghdad neighborhood of Sha'ab swear an oath to serve the government and uphold the law after successfully completing the screening process, Sept. 27. When the recruiting drive is complete, around 1,200 local men will have been selected as security volunteers in Sha'ab, where they will alleviate pressure on the Iraqi police and army by guarding local banks, schools and markets.
