Command Sgt. Maj. Joseph Hjelmstad, the Iowa National Guard Senior Enlisted Leader, files through a Mobile Kitchen Trailer to try the presentation meal during the final level of the Philip A. Connelly culinary competition at the Iowa City Readiness Center on Feb. 1, 2020. The 109th Multifunctional Medical Battalion culinary team has spent the past three years competing at state and regional levels to have a chance at winning the national title for best culinary operation in the Army National Guard, field-feeding category. They are now competing against three National Guard units from Nebraska, New York and Virginia. The Philip A.
