Retired U. S. Army Brig. Gen. Rebecca “Becky” Halstead, the first female Chief of Ordnance and Commanding General of the Army’s Ordnance Center and Schools, gives a motivational speech called, “Surviving to Thriving”, that addressed leadership and personal life changing skills she adopted during her experiences in and out of the Army. She spoke to more than 400 women veterans who attended the 2012 Women-Veterans’ Conference at Hotel Murano, Tacoma, Wash., which was presented by the Washington State Department of Veteran Affairs and several other sponsors in the Tacoma-Seattle area June 16. The purpose of the conference was to take a holistic approach to women veterans’ benefits. The conference promoted future growth, and prosperity within the female veteran population.
