FORT BENNING, Ga. – In an April 2019 photo, hand-to-hand fighting skills are put to the test during the All Army Lacerda Cup Combatives Competition, held at Fort Benning as part of last year's Infantry Week. The prestigious Infantry Week will be held again this year, from April 14-20. It comprises four separate competitions: Best Mortar Competition, All Army Lacerda Cup Combatives Competition, International Sniper Competition, and Best Ranger Competition. The combatives competition is named in honor of the late Staff. Sgt. Pedro Lacerda of the 75th Ranger Regiment, and recognizes outstanding performance in hand-to-hand fighting skills known in the Army as combatives. Infantry Week is known for its exacting standards and often grueling physical demands, in which competitors vie under high-pressure, combat-like conditions for best-in-their-field honors. The public is invited to attend.
