Marines of Alpha Company, 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion, and sailors of USS North Carolina (SSN777) work together to assemble a combat rubber reconnaissance craft aboard the Virginia class fast attack submarine during a training exercise at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, June 23. USS North Carolina is designed to seek and destroy enemy submarines and surface ships; project power ashore with Tomahawk cruise missiles and Special Operation Forces; carry out Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions; support battle group operations, and engage in mine warfare.
