Teams of contractors work as quickly as possible to construct Pods for COVID-19 patients. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is constructing an alternate care facility at the Miami Beach Convention Center in support of the pandemic.
Construction of the facility began Tuesday, April 7,2020. Once construction/conversion of the site is complete, the alternate care facility is transferred to the state territory for operations and maintenance of the facility. Currently, the Corps is not responsible for returning alternative care facilities back to their original condition.
