NAVAL BASE GUAM (April 15, 2020) U.S. Navy Chief Construction Electrician Edmund Nowak, assigned to Navy Cargo Handling Battalion (NCHB) 8, and Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class Reynaldo Castro, assigned to NCHB 1, secure a sling to an Improved Navy Lighterage System (INLS) beach module during an operation to offload equipment for construction of an Expeditionary Medical Facility (EMF) from Watson-class vehicle cargo ship USNS Dahl (T-AKR-312). The EMF will provide expanded medical capabilities in support of DoD’s COVID-19 response and will enable forces to be postured to support Guam and the region if a Defense Support of Civil Authorities mission is requested.
