Side-by-side comparisons show the work completed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento District, at the Porterville Developmental Center in Porterville, California from April 8 to April 21, 2020. For the last two weeks, USACE has been renovating the facility to make it suitable for use as an Alternate Care Facility to increase hospital space in the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On April 21, USACE officially signed the facility over to the state, signifying that renovations had been completed and the facility was ready for equipping and staffing.
Photo on the left shows the original heat exchanger at one of the PDC buildings; the Corps replaced this heat exchanger with the new unit shown on the right.
