U.S. Marines and Sailors with Marine Wing Support Squadron 172, 9th Engineer Support Battalion and Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 5 begin pouring concrete over the new landing strip foundation on Ie Shima, Okinawa, Japan, April 23, 2020. Over the course of the next six months the Marines and Sailors with MWSS-172, 9th ESB and Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 5 will work to restore the old landing strip for the purpose of bringing the operational capabilities of the island up to full capacity.
