Baton Rouge, La., native Col. Jeff Mitchell, state chaplain for the Louisiana National Guard (right), and Aiken, S.C., native Capt. Andrew Tarrant, head nurse of Expeditionary Medical Facility-M, tour the EMF-M COVID-19 ward at Baton Rouge General Mid City campus May 6, 2020. Following the tour, the chaplain hosted a traditional Blessing of the Hands ceremony in honor of Nurses Week that’s held annually from May 6 – 12. EMF-M coordinates closely with state, local, and public health authorities to ensure the well-being of their personnel and the local population. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing flexible Department of Defense support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the whole-of-nation COVID-19 response.
