U.S. Air Force Maj. Sean Smith, 10th Expeditionary Aeromedical Evacuation Flight aeromedical evacuation operations team officer in charge, gives a briefing to medical professionals from the German air force’s center for aerospace medicine onboard a U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircraft during a COVID-19 Transport Isolation System briefing at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, June 4, 2020. The German Air Force members toured the 10 EAEF facilities as well as an aircraft that held the TIS, in order to familiarize themselves with COVID-19 TIS procedures and equipment. The TIS is an infectious disease containment unit designed to minimize contamination risk to aircrew and medical attendants, while allowing in-flight medical care for patients afflicted by a disease like COVID-19.
